What happens if I run out of money during my divorce?

I am in the middle of a contested divorce in Ohio. My ex-wife’s attorney is dragging this out and costing me a lot of money in attorney fees.

Temporary orders have been approved, it’s down to a matter of her attorney wants my business to be a marital asset. Thus the contested matter. We have a second status conference in January.
I am near penniless and after my current retainer runs out, I will not have the money to retain my attorney.
What will happen to the divorce case? Does it go “on hold” or something?

Once you can no longer pay, I think you may have to continue the case without counsel or settle with your wife.
I would discuss this with your current attorney.
Talk to your lawyer about asking for additional fees from you soon to be ex to pay for your attorney’s fees. Also, consider getting a loan or using a credit card.
Is filing for bankruptcy an option at all? Not sure how filing for personal bankruptcy will impact your business. Check with your attorney.
If you are bankrupt, your ex and her lawyer may have no incentive to come after you (though you will pay the price for a while till your credit is repaired)
